Kearney, Neb. — Joe Johnson has filed to run for the Nebraska Legislature, seeking to represent Legislative District 41, which includes Buffalo, Hall, Howard, Sherman, Valley, Greeley, Boone, and Wheeler counties.
Johnson is running on a foundation of faith, family, and conservative common sense. A lifelong Republican, he supports pro-life principles and a fair, responsible tax policy that funds essential public services while meaningfully reducing the property tax burden on hardworking families, farmers, and small businesses. He also emphasizes strong partnerships with local communities and institutions to foster growth and innovation, while ensuring Nebraska remains competitive and a national leader in every agricultural sector.
“Nebraska’s success depends on strong families, responsible government, and policies that respect taxpayers,” Johnson said. “We can protect life, support agriculture, and grow our economy while keeping Nebraska affordable for the people who live and work here.”
Johnson brings more than 25 years of experience helping Nebraska communities grow and plan for the future. He began his career in public service as a city administrator and now works as a business development professional for a Nebraska-based engineering firm, assisting communities across the state with infrastructure development, economic growth, and long-term planning. He is also a small-business owner in Kearney, where he proudly supports Nebraska’s beer, wine, and spirits producers by serving exclusively Nebraska-made products.
Agriculture remains central to Johnson’s priorities. He believes Nebraska must continue to strengthen its agricultural economy by supporting innovation, value-added production, and policies that keep family farms and rural communities competitive for generations to come.
Johnson lives just north of Kearney in Buffalo County with his wife, Tara, and their three sons, Will, Alex, and Chandler. Born, raised, and educated in Nebraska, he says his desire to serve is rooted in the future of the state.
“My goal is to ensure Nebraska remains a place where my boys—and families across District 41—will choose to live, work, and raise their families,” Johnson said. “It would be an honor to earn the trust of voters and serve as their voice in the Nebraska Legislature.”
